03-17-2010-- Update 2 Grand Mesa Search and Rescue Mission

Mesa County, Colorado—Care Flight helicopter transported Anderson and Driggers from the Grand Mesa to St. Mary’s Hospital at 7:30 p.m. There is no additional information on the extent of Anderson’s injuries and it is believed that Driggers has no injuries.

 

03-17-2010-- Update Grand Mesa Search and Rescue Mission

Mesa County, Colorado—Mesa County Search and Rescue Control, Inc. members and Care Flight helicopter staff are in contact with the two avalanche victims as of about 4:15 p.m. Seth Anderson, 35, of Grand Junction is believed to have injuries as a result of the avalanche. Initial reports indicate he may have both legs broken, but he will be in route to St. Mary’s hospital for medical evaluation and attention as soon as rescue workers can get him transported from the scene. Ann Driggers, age unknown, also of Grand Junction, reported no injuries from the avalanche.

 

03-17-2010-- Grand Mesa Search & Rescue Mission

Mesa County, Colorado— Two local adult cross country skiers were caught in an avalanche on the west side of the Grand Mesa earlier today. They both survived and were able to make a call out on a cell phone to the Communication Center who dispatched deputies to an area below the Thunderbird Trailhead and near Palisade Point at 1:06 p.m. Deputies and Search and Rescue Control, Inc. (SARC) have established a command post at the end of Rapid Creek Road (off Highway 6).

 

03-12-2010-- St. Patrick's Day DUI Patrols

Mesa County, Colorado— Starting today and running through March 18, 2010, deputies will be participating in the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) St. Patrick’s Day ‘impaired driving enforcement’ period. During this seven day period, deputies will be increasing their on-duty patrol numbers with designated deputies on DUI patrols only, the Traffic Unit deputies will adjust their schedules to target impaired driving, and deputies will be participating in a local DUI checkpoint (organized by Colorado State Patrol).

 

03-11-2010-- Jail Ministry Banquet

Mesa County, Colorado— He was once a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Iran when the U. S Embassy employees were taken hostage on November 4, 1979. He went on to serve at the White House during President Ronald Reagan’s term. And then eventually landed himself in the Virginia Fairfax County jail, where Chaplain Alan Kaiser was ministering at the time.
