  • Icon 12-28-2010-- New Year's Eve Office Closure Information

    Mesa County, Colorado— In observance of New Year’s Day, the Record’s Department (front counter) and inmate visitation will be closed on Friday, December 31, 2010. Regular business hours for the front counter will resume Monday, January 3, 2011, as will inmate visitation. 

     

    Icon 12-28-2010-- DUI Enforcement For New Year's Weekend

    Mesa County, Colorado— As part of the final ‘The Heat Is On’ Campaign statewide, deputies are participating in a scheduled increased enforcement period that will run this New Year’s weekend. Multiple deputies will work the roads of Mesa County, Friday through Sunday, to patrol for intoxicated drivers. 

     

    Icon 12-22-2010-- Clifton Woman Arrest For Arson

    Mesa County, Colorado— A 22-year-old Clifton woman was arrested this afternoon by deputies for Arson, Criminal Mischief, Child Abuse, Reckless Endangerment and False Reporting. Kayla Settle is accused of setting the apartment where she lived, on fire, November 19, 2010. Her brother and children were in the home at the time of the fire. 

     

    Icon 12-22-2010-- Annual Tradition Continues

    Mesa County, Colorado—This is the third consecutive year that the Mesa County Communication Officers Association (MCCOA) and the Sheriff’s Office have partnered with the Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA) to adopt families for Christmas. This year, four families were chosen by the GJHA because they are meeting their goals, but have no “extra” to make Christmas special for their families. 

     

    Icon 12-10-10-- Update Wanted Sex Offender Arrested

    Mesa County, Colorado— Yesterday evening, an off-duty deputy spotted wanted sex offender John Joseph Kerby at a location in the 3000 block of E ½ Road, Grand Junction. The off-duty deputy was there for a child’s Christmas program when he spotted Kerby in the audience.  

     

    Icon 12-07-2010-- Search & Rescue Accepting Applications

    Mesa County, Colorado—The Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team is currently accepting applications for new members. There will be a training class for all prospective members to attend, but they must first complete an application. Applications can be picked up at the front counter of the Sheriff’s Office, located at 215 Rice Street, Grand Junction or online at the Sheriff’s Office website. Please note, anyone interested in becoming a new member must pass a background check and will have to go through an interview process. The deadline for turning in applications is January 15th, 2011. 

     

    Icon 12-06-2010-- Placing A Fraud Alert On Credit

    Mesa County, Colorado— The Sheriff’s Office has been getting a high volume of calls from the community asking if their personal information was part of the recent County I.T. breach. At this time, we are not able to let the public know if and what information was part of the breach, due to staff capacity and review of the data breach information is still on-going. We are currently working to get staff available to man the phone line soon.
