The Law Operations Division is the wing of the Mesa County Sheriff's Office that is directly responsible for all Law Enforcement concerns or activities that transpire in the unincorporated areas of Mesa County. The division is also responsible for other statutory requirements in having a Wild Land Fire suppression team to address fires on private land, and to provide Search and Rescue services.
The Law Operations Division is comprised about 70 sworn deputies and 1 civilian employee within four sections, to address these core concerns.
- Two Uniform Patrol sections that are assigned five patrol districts or service areas, and maintain service throughout these areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Special Services section that maintains responsibility for our School Resource Deputy, Rural Deputy Program, which includes Search and Rescue.
- The Investigations Section, which is directly responsible for complex investigations pertaining to persons or property, and the storing of property and evidence.
- Western Colorado Drug Task Force is responsible for investigations and interdiction efforts in Mesa County and across the nation in the area of drug enforcement. The combined effort of local law enforcement (Mesa County Sheriff's Office and Grand Junction Police Department) and the Federal government brings a greater resource to our area at combating distribution and manufacturing of illegal drugs.
